Creston Fire Department One of Seven
FDs on scene for Elevator Fire in Lenox |
As I arrived on the scene, this is what confronted the firefighters.
It was obvious the building was going to be a loss.
The wind was from the south. Debris has been found two blocks north of the scene.
It didn't take long for the flames to overtake the entire building.
Debris can be seen at the left as the building collapses.
This shows the building fully engulfed.
This is a view from the east.
Firefighters from Lenox, Creston, Mt. Ayr, Corning, Bedford, Diagonal and Sharpsburg fought the blaze.

Moving toward the east, where the command staff was located, the shows more of the building sinking into the ground.

Creston's aerial truck was used to direct the water flow to the center of the fire.

The Lorimor Volunteer Fire Dept. Pony Express Breakfast was a well-attended event. A good breakfast is the best way to start the day. Serving up that delicious breakfast, for a worthy cause. After the serving was over, those helping got a chance to eat breakfast. Even young helpers were up early to get everyone fed. A good crowd enjoyed the breakfast.

Medic 1 won't go unnoticed when the Trumpeteer air horn is used. It is also equipped with a dual feature siren which allows the wail and yelp to be used at the same time. John Stutzman, PS, is shown demonstrating the hydraulic oxygen lift. With a push of a button the oxygen bottle can be easily removed and replaced. GCH Ambulance, Medic 1, arrived early in March to go into service with Union County's only transport and full-time paramedic service. The new arrival joins Medic 2, a familiar site to Union County emergency responders and citizens.
John Stutzman, PS, and Jerry Carson, PS, stand beside the new ambulance which arrived at GCH early in March. The ambulance offers more space, specialized compartments and easier access to supplies, all which can promote more efficient patient care.
