Are you planning something special in your community? If so, please submit
your event to be listed on this web site. Here are some ideas:
- Promote
the ICE for EMS project. Cell phone carriers are encouraged to enter an ICE
(in case of emergency) number into their cell phone, so that EMS personnel
can quickly find a contact to call - in case of emergency.
- Set
up a day at the school to let the kids tour your rescue vehicle.
- Host a dinner to honor EMS personnel, or
to thank other entitites who regularly assist your service, such as law
enforcement, fire, or government officials.
- Host
a blood pressure check clinic, with information on blood pressure to
hand-out to participants.
- Hold a Friends and
Family CPR class, open to the public.
- Have a poster
contest in the elementary and middle schools, and/or an essay contest for
older kids, with EMS and 911 as topics.
- Arrange for a
child safety seat clinic to be held in your community.
- Host a bicycle
rodeo.
- Distribute
informational pamphlets or flyers on calling 911, safety in the home, drug
interaction information, or other topics, to people at Congregate Meal
Sites, churches, and other gathering places.
- Honor members
of your service with certificates for years of service, outstanding
performance, or fun honors such as "never complains" or "always has a
smile." Everyone plays an important role on a department and recognizing
that can help in retaining those members.
